Lovina is situated on the north coast of Bali not far from the the former capital Singaraja. Lovina provides a quiet peaceful haven which is much slower than the joyful bustle of Kuta. The locals are friendly and the prices for food and entertainment are extraordinary. If you like cocktails then they are available for $US0.85 in many places offering an all-day "happy hour". Little warungs pop up everywhere and the food is generally good. Two friendly transvestites offer massage and hair salon services under the menu item "she-male" massage. Most people go to Lovina to see dolphins and whales. We highly recommend the early morning dolphin trip. I wrote in my diary: "We got up at 5.45am and were taken by Made (our tour guide) to the beach. We boarded his small boat and were taken out to sea to view the dolphins. His young son can along as well. The trip was very nice and doing this in the early morning was a great decision. I loved every minute of it and it was one of the highlights of the tour". Getting to Lovina is also very enjoyable as you pass through fantastic countryside.
